Faraja Foundation is currently empowering offenders with business startup skills. Through the business skills transfer training, we are helping the offenders realize that they have the potential and change their mindsets to engage into a more meaningful business that can help them in the reintegration process once they have serves their terms.
The main objectives of this training is to;
- To give them opportunity to understand basic operations of small businesses
- Encourage them to use their creativity and innovative attitude in business start up
- Develop basic business plans that can be funded.
Trainees are taken through operations of a small business, characteristics of an entrepreneur, sources of business ideas and funding businesses and developing a simple business plan.
The training in business startup is part of the capacity development theme in Faraja’s strategic plan.
This year we have conducted the trainings at Kamae Girls Borstal Institution, Nakuru Women Prison and in the remaining part of the year, will do the same in Naivasha women & Medium Prisons and also at Langata Women Prison.
